SHILL BIDDING (Don’t Do It!)
General
Shill bidding is bidding done with the intention of falsely increasing an items’ price, or is bidding that is done by Xoomer’s that have unique access to the seller and/or their item that is not available to the general Xoomage public. Some of those Xoomer’s could be roommates, family members, employees or just friends, which would allow them access to the unique information being sold or the selling Xoomer. These aforementioned individuals are not allowed to bid on items by the selling Xoomer even if they intend on actually purchasing the item. These items may only be purchased using the Xoomage “Buy Out” component, but not through the auction process.
Xoomers that are caught shill bidding can expect up to, but not limited to any of the following actions:
- Loss of Xoomage privileges on any of the Xoomage Sites, indefinitely
- Limits on account activities on any of the Xoomage Sites
- Forfeiture of fees on listings that are cancelled
- Reporting to law enforcement
Shill bidding is a “Don’t Do It” on Xoomage, so please Don’t Do It. If you know of or suspect anyone practicing shill bidding on an auction, please report them to nono@xoomage.com |
